They are an OKAY pair of clippers; They aren’t great though.
However, I would recommend looking at another brand of clippers.

Is the clipper suitable for rough course hair?

It barely cuts my medium fine hair.
My previous clipper was a Vidal Sassoon, automatic blade length, rechargeable, a far superior product to this Wahl clipper. I'm looking for another VS now to replace the Whal I only bought a couple of weeks ago.
