Tips To Tame The Back Mane

Jan 15. 2019 by Shaver Shop Team

Back hair. It’s the unglamorous cousin of the beard, and often the bane of your hair-removal regime. There are many options available, some of which you could try yourself at home… others will need an extra pair of hands to get the job done. Let us walk you through some of the options to get that back fuzz free.

Considered the easiest and often a cost-effective option, historically you’ve needed the hands of your beloved (or a good mate) to help shave those hard to reach areas. If you do choose the razor, best place to shave down is in the shower (as the steam will help soften the hairs). Make sure you shave in the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation and ingrown hairs.

For long-term hair removal, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) can be a great option when used correctly. Basically, the melanin in your hair follicle absorbs the light from the IPL device and heats up, which then disables the hair follicle, preventing regrowth. The reduced hair growth means smooth skin, less stubble and less time required on back grooming maintenance! If you are suited for IPL (IPL isn’t suitable for use on red, light blonde, white/grey hair or very dark skin), you will need initial assistance from a partner or friend with completing treatments on your back, however this is only required in the short term as the long-term benefits will be worth it.

However, if grooming solo is more your thing and you want to get your back hair sorted on your own  – the following two products really do have your back covered!

Remington Quick Groom Body & Back Groomer

The Remington Quick Groom Body & Back Groomer is an ergonomically designed, cordless groomer that fits in the palm of your hand for easy use – plus it has a detachable handle that ensures you can reach the hard to trim places on your back! 100% waterproof, the Quick Groom can be used wet or dry and has 60mm stainless steel blades offering greater coverage and ensure you can get that back sorted sooner. A must-have for those that are trying to conquer their grooming solo – the handle makes it so easy to use.

BakBlade

As a second option, enter: the BakBlade. It’s quick, easy and pain-free. The blades are designed to shave back and body hair and the BakBlade comes with an ergonomic S-Shaped handle for ease of use and it can be used wet or dry (although like shaving, it definitely works well in the shower).

Expert tip: There are so many options for grooming – regular maintenance will make this much easier to manage, plus adding exfoliation to your grooming regime will be incredibly beneficial to prevent pesky in-grown hairs. Prolong the life of your back-grooming equipment and if using shavers or trimmers, a maintenance spray like Shaver Guard will ensure the blades are well-maintained and ready for use.
