Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone use the SensEpil?
Unfortunatley not everyone is able to use Light Based Hair Removal. This type of treatment works best on people with light skin and dark hairs. People with dark skin tones and or Grey or Blonde hairs are not suitable candidates for treatment. People who are exposed to UV rays for extended periods of times on a regular basis are also advised against using this device ( Sunbaking, Solarium ).
Why wont SensEpil work if i have darker skin or light hair?
The light produced by the SensEpil device is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follice. People with darker skin tones will absorb this light into their skin rather then their hair, severely reducing the effectivness of the procedure. The heat being absorbed into the skin can cause irritation, burns, blisters, redness and even discolouration. It is for this reason that Grey or Blonde hair is not suitable, it contains little to no melanin to conduct the light to the base of the hair follicle.
Where can i use the SensEpil?
The SensEpil unit can be used on most parts of the body including part of the face ( below the cheek-line ). It can not be used on or around the eyes, areola or genital parts.
What is the difference between the Silkn and SensEpil?
Both devices use the same HPL technology however the SensEpil has a Skin Colour Sensor. This measures the skin complexion at the start of each session and occasionally during the treatments. This ensures that the device is only being used on suitable candidates. The newer SensEpil unit is also quieter then the older Silkn device.
How often do i need to use the SensEpil?
The SensEpil needs to be used once every 2 weeks for 2 months. You must then wait for the hair to regrow before starting the process again. This reason behind multiple treatments is because hair grows in 3 different stages and can only be affectivley treated in one.
